Who we are

No Small Ambition is a student-led research project by Violet Taylor, a student at Saint Kentigern College in Auckland, New Zealand, advised by Prof. Sarah Hetrick of the University of Auckland. The survey

The survey is anonymous by design. When you submit it, we store your answers, whether you took the New Zealand or international version, the date and time, and which version of the questions you answered. We do not ask for and cannot see your name, your school, your email address or your IP address alongside your answers, and there is no way for us to connect a set of answers to a person.

Answers are used only for this research project and the findings that come from it. Findings are reported in aggregate, so no individual response is ever published on its own in a way that could identify anyone.

Results emails

If you choose to leave an email address to hear about the results, it is stored in a separate list that has no link to any survey answers. We ask you to confirm your address before it joins the list, and we use it for one thing only: letting you know when the findings are published. You can be removed at any time by emailing us, and the list will be deleted once the results have been shared.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they read. Analytics sets cookies in your browser and reports aggregate information such as pages viewed, approximate location and device type. We see visits as numbers, not as people, and analytics data is never combined with survey answers. You can block analytics cookies in your browser without affecting the survey.

Cookies and your device

If you start the survey and leave part-way, your progress is saved in your own browser on your own device, not on our servers, and it disappears after about 30 days or once you submit. Login cookies exist only for the people who run the site; visitors are never asked to create an account or log in.

Links to other websites

Some pages link to other websites, such as university profiles. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

How long we keep information

Anonymous survey answers are kept for the life of the research and any publications that come from it. The results email list is kept until the findings have been shared, or until you ask to be removed. Records of emails the site has sent are kept for 90 days for troubleshooting.

Your choices

Because survey answers are anonymous, we cannot find or delete an individual response after it is submitted. For anything connected to your email address, or any other question about your information, email violet.taylor@nosmallambition.org.nz and we will sort it out.
